Eric A. Ortega is a Chicago-area engineer who built his career the old-fashioned way: by being relentlessly curious. Leveraging community resources, deep technical reading, and a willingness to dig into hard problems, he became a jack of all trades in I.T. — covering everything from computer networking and server administration to email deliverability and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
That work earned him recognition as "Rising Star" in 2015 at his employer, and led to senior technical roles at Managed Service Providers serving high-profile Chicagoland clients including Ghost Energy Drink, Seasons Hospice, U.S. Waterproofing, and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center (Rosemont Expo). Those years gave him the experience to grow small businesses into medium and large enterprises — from an infrastructure standpoint.
Today, Eric sees a clear gap: small businesses face the same cybersecurity threats as the enterprise, without the same resources or technical understanding. Latino-owned businesses in particular often have those challenges compounded by an unnecessary translation layer between them and their I.T. provider.
Bilingual and technically grounded, Eric founded OCG IT Consulting LLC to close that gap. He has a natural inclination toward teaching — explaining the line of thinking behind a fix so the next problem is one his clients can spot themselves. After completing certifications recognized globally — NSE4, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA A+ — and 17 years in the I.T. industry, he set out to deliver senior-engineer service at a scale small businesses can actually use.
Off the keyboard, Eric builds custom gaming PCs, walks his dog Champa at the park, and watches the occasional anime — proof that even the people you trust with your I.T. need to step away from the monitors sometimes.
